This MAY happen to a Potter's baby but in the majority of the cases the baby does come out normal in appearance or with small various problems such as squished face parts. Please if viewing this do not automatically presume if you are carrying a Potter's Syndrome baby that this is how your baby will look upon birth. If needing to know more please go to our support group at: http://forums.delphiforums.com/potterssyndrome/start to see photos of other babies.
This actually looks like a classic picture of anencephaly, a totally different birth defect from Potter's. Potter's comes from a kidney defect that reduces the amount of fluid in the baby's sac below normal levels. The picture here seems to be depicting a baby whose nervous system didn't develop quite right. Now, I could be wrong because I am just a medical student and not a doctor but I have seen a lot of these pictures and this sure does look like classic anencephaly, NOT Potter's.

It can have Potter's Syndrome secondary to anencephaly, but this is definitely not a typical clinical aspect of Potter's Syndrome.
